
We live in the times where every now and then, there’s a new food hack from TikTok. This viral TikTok ramen hack instantly makes your regular ramen, to a luxurious version and all you need is 3 extra ingredients; a squirt of Kewpie Mayo and minced garlic to an instant ramen packet along with an egg.
Kewpie mayo in ramen ?
The kewpie mayo adds a rich and creamy flavor to the ramen broth and it’s THE hack that’s going viral on TikTok. It makes instant ramen taste just like long-simmered ramen broth from a legit ramen restaurant. So, if you’re wondering if mayo is good in ramen, the answer is yes! It’s trending on TikTok and you can find the orignal Japanese creator for this dish on YouTube.
What does Mayo Ramen taste like?
It taste like the Instant ramen flavour you’re about to cook (spicy, chicken, miso etc) but with a luxurious boost of umami and richness thanks to Kewpie Mayo and garlic. The mayo thickens the broth and gives it body to an otherwise diluted thin ramen broth.
Adding an additional fat (which ideally is Kewpie mayo and egg yolk), it will make the ramen broth be thicker and more flavourful. The kewpie mayo adds complexity, mouthfeel and helps the broth cling onto the noodles better.

INGREDIENTS TO MAKE CREAMY MAYO RAMEN
- Instant Ramen. This is easy, just grab your favourite. Tho I think the non-spicy version will work better, using on spicy ramen will mask the spiciness of the ramen a tad bit. The original was made with Nissin Sapporo Miso Ramen. I used a Spicy Jin Ramen.
- Garlic. Chop, mince garlic, or grate finely. It is added raw into the sauce. However, the hot water will cook and mellow down the raw garlic taste but still boosting the flavour profile of the dish.
- Kewpie Mayo. This is the magical ingredient to this dish. Japanese Kewpie Mayo is made with only egg yolks-not whole eggs and with rice vinegar and salt with no added sugar.
- Egg. Use regular chicken egg.



HOW TO MAKE CREAMY MAYO RAMEN?
- Make the sauce. In a bowl, add 1 egg, 1 tbsp of kewpie mayo, 1 glove minced garlic and the spice pack that comes together with the instant ramen pack. Whisk it till it combines.
- Cook instant ramen. Use only 2 cups of water (500ml) and bring to a boil. Add ramen and cook according to the time stated, usually 2-4 minutes.
- Add hot water to the sauce. Once ramen is cooked, slowly drizzle hot water into the bowl of sauce while whisking it to combine. It will emulsify the egg and mayo into a rich broth.
- Add noodles. Carefully add noodles into the soup.
- Serve. Serve as it is, or add ramen egg, chopped spring onions, sesame seed and seaweed strips.

Creamy Mayo Ramen
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp Kewpie Mayo
- 1 clover garlic minced
- 1 egg
- 1 packet instant ramen, miso or chicken flavour preferred
Toppings
- 1 tbsp chopped spring onion
- 1 ramen egg
- sesame seed and dried seaweed for garnishing
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together 1 egg, 1 tbsp kewpie mayo, 1 clove minced garlic and the instant ramen spice packs.
- In a pot, bring 2 cups of water to boil. Add instant ramen to it. Cook for 2-4 minutes according to doneness.
- Add hot water into bowl and slowly mix with the sauce till it emulsifies.
- Add ramen noodles and stir.
- Add toppings on top and eat while its hot.
